We will wake up and have breakfast. After breakfast, we will head to Yaroslavichi village. In Yaroslavichi we will take a walk through beautiful countryside landscapes and an eco-trail. Our local guide will tell us a story of the Veps sacred place, worshipped by the Vepsians.
We will visit a place where Vepsians have been worshiping for centuries - “the Sacred stone”. The Sacred stone is an outcrop of ancient bedrock. It is believed that the Sacred stone has attracted the Vepsians from the end of the XIX century.
After a meditative walk through the countrysides, we will return back to our accommodation and have lunch. After lunch, we will go to the Center of the Veps folklore where local Veps women will perform a cultural show. They will tell us about the history of the Veps peoples and teach us how to cook the traditional Vepsian dish - “kalitki”.
We will visit the local craftsmen’s workshops and enjoy an authentic Vepsian puppet theatre show. We will learn about the favorite plots and characters of the Vepsian folklore.
(The main aim of the Center of the Veps folklore is to preserve the culture and language of the Veps peoples, and develop the local traditions and crafts. A huge part of the territory of the Center is occupied by the ethnographic museum. The exposition of the museum displays the culture of the Vepsians residing in the Podporozhsky District. The exposition also displays the lifestyle of other Finno-Ugric ethnicities.
After visiting the Center of the Veps folklore we will gather together for the practice of fairy tale therapy. Like little children, we will read Vepsian fairy tales, discuss the storylines and the characters of the folklore heroes. We will embrace the cultural code and the deepest wisdom preserved for us in the tales by our ancestors.
Using a traditional recipe, we will bake a loaf of delicious bread. Then we will return to our accommodation to enjoy dinner and rest.
After the rich day, full of events and discoveries, we will experience the authentic Russian “banya” (sauna) on the picturesque shore of the river Oyat’.
